Anne Lee Players

The Anne Lee Players was established in 2008. It is a voluntary organisation where amateur actors and past students are given the opportunity to develop to their full potential in the creative arts.

Membership is open to all via audition and the group aims to perform three challenging plays per year. The aim of the players is to advance and promote excellence in drama.

Rehearsals are held on a Sunday and the time-span of rehearsals are kept succinct and focused. The rehearsals are a great social interaction event which has led to its success.

Upcoming Productions Include

The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekov

View From the Bridge By Arthur Miller

Blood Wedding by Lorca

Past Productions

Our first production was Alan Bennett's 'The History Boys' in November 2008. The actors presented a memorable, professional performance within the different acting spaces of the Studio Theatre and the Brewhouse Arts Theatre in January 2009. All performances were sold out with people being turned away at the door.

"The Anne Lee Players exceeded my wildest expectations by producing a play brimming with atmosphere and so delicately handled as to do justice to Alan Bennett's tour do force play. The local actors expertly balanced the play's pathos and comedy…Outstanding! We are so glad we made the remarkable discovery of the Studio Theatre. What excellence!"

Michael Bawden, Burn- reviewed in the Burton Mail

"The History Boys performed by the Anne Lee Players was remarkable for the quality of cast and direction. It is no exaggeration to say that it is West End status"

 Andy Tongue, London

"My husband and I came to see the History Boys both at the Studio Theatre and the Grain, and at the Brewhouse. We loved it, the energy coming off the stage at both venues was electic, people around me were standing up on their feet applauding. I still hold the memory of the moments of the play in my mind. It was outstanding!"

 John and Pamela Finnigan, Alrewas

"Such a tight professional production! Better than any production I've seen in London!"

Belinda Keable, Branston
